It’s that time of the year again! Seagulls caw begging for food – for some reason especially fries- along the beach. Families have barbecues and spend more time together. Countless people travel to relax at the shore. Blankets and towels are spread across the sand where people lay and soak up the sun. Children play in the water and bury one another, neck-deep in sand. The scenario is perfect, and of course you want the perfect hair day too, and what is more appropriate then the beach wave look?
The beach wave gives off the appearance of wind-tussled hair, without the hot mess of actually having had your hair messed up. It is cute, fun, and easy making it the perfect summertime look. Below we have provided you with a few ways to get the style.
- The Braid
This method is as simple as one, two, three strands of hair. Remember when you were younger and would hopelessly practice braiding your hair, or yarn? We know by now the skill has been mastered, and all that hard work will have paid off. After you get out of the shower wring some of the excess water out of your hair, and brush it out while it is still wet. Part it as close to down the middle as possible, and separate it into three sections. Braid the hair as tightly, and as close to the scalp as possible. Let the tight braids air dry, or expedite the process with a hair dryer. When it is dry, remove the rubber band, and brush through your hair with your fingers. This allows you to untangle it without making your hair frizzy or fluffy.
- The Scrunch
The scrunch is somehow even easier than the braid and works best with naturally curly hair. Like the braid, wring out, and pick through your hair before starting this process. Grab your favorite hair gel, Garnier Fructis works very well, and squirt a liberal amount into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together before tossing your hair over your head, and scrunching it through your hair starting from the bottom. This can cause more of a ringlet effect depending on how curly your hair is naturally. For extra hold, add a little hairspray.
- The Curling Wand
The curling wand gives the most realistic beach wave look. It works great on second-day hair, but can be done on just washed hair as well. Begin by brushing through your dry hair, and heating your curling wand. Section off your hair, and begin with the bottom layer. Curl your hair around your one-inch wand in one-inch sections alternating between bringing the curls towards, and away from your face. This ensures that the curls do not look too uniform, and appears to be more natural, and relaxed. Repeat this process through the next few sections of your hair. In the last two sections of your hair, spray the roots with L’oreal Boost It High Lift Creation Spray, and tease the hair before curling it around the want in alternate directions. This gives your hair more volume and texture. Repeat this on the top layer, and do not forget about the back of your head. Let the hairstyle set for five minutes before running your fingers through your hair to break the curls up a bit. With a comb, carefully brush over the very top layer of hair, to smooth out the initial appearance caused by the spray. Make sure to add a little hairspray so the look stays put all day.
Enjoy your beach waves, and the sun!
