Many women have found themselves in situations where they receive unwanted attention, or comments from boldly creepy strangers who are usually men. Let us say this one more time as clearly we as we can. No you cat calling us from a sidewalk is not flattering. We do not like when you follow us, as we do not want you to give us attention, and we most likely think that you are going to rape or murder us. It is not cute to whistle, we are not dogs. Do not complain about being “unable to escape the friend zone.” The fact that you are only our friend to try and pursue us sexually is insulting enough. We are not a “slut” if we have had sex with one man, or woman, or a thousand. We are not a prude if we deny your advances. It is not your right to police our bodies or shame us into looking a certain way. We have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, and do not tell us that “adoption is an option.” Not all of us want to carry a child. If you try to use pregnancy as a “punishment” for sex stop yourself there because your opinion holds no value, and you will be referred back to the “stop policing our bodies comment.” While we are on the topic of women’s bodies, if you find yourself, someday, as the President of the United States do not, let me repeat this, do not comment on the physic of another politician’s spouse. You are a diplomat, and it reflects very poorly on the country you are representing.
Donald Trump, who will forever be known as the worst and most brazenly obnoxious President, has recently taken a trip to France. In the past he has made other terribly volatile comments such as when he made fun of a disabled journalist. In regards to female journalists he stated, “You know, it doesn’t really matter what they write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.” He has joked about dating underage girls and in regards to a deal he made with his daughter Ivanka he said, “I have a deal with her. She’s 17 and doing great. Ivanka, she made me promise, swear to her that I would never date a girl younger than her. So as she grows older, the field is getting very limited.” He also made a comment about former political opponent Hilary Clinton’s husband’ affair stating, “I was going to hit her with her husband’s women and I decided I shouldn’t do it because her daughter was in the room,” as if he ever did anything for a woman out of respect.
In France, he decided to comment on Bridgette Macron’s, who is the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, body. He said, “You’re in such good shape,” he proceeded to look towards the President of France, “She’s in such good physical shape. Beautiful.” This is a huge blow to the United States. If a diplomat representing our country is walking around objectifying the spouses of foreign officials they will slow, or quickly, grow to hate us. They will view our country as one that promotes ignoble behavior, and views relationships with other counties as unimportant to say the least. French President Emmanuel Macron has previously extended his hand to American citizens to move to France. We can only hope that he and his wife will continue to tolerate the blatant disrespect shown to them by Donald Trump, and not hold it against American citizens. On behalf of American citizens we are so sorry for this national embarrassment holding office at all.
