Glossier has taken the world by storm.
The beauty brand, which primarily sells online, has garnered a large and loyal following.
The company, founded by Emily Weiss, has recently found a notable new addition to its board of directors with Katrina Lake, the founder and CEO of Stitch Fix.
Just last year, Glossier’s Emily Weiss was seeking to be introduced to Miss Lake, meaning that her presence on the board is most certainly welcome.
Weiss expressed her excitement in an interview, stating,
“I’ve just been generally so inspired by her [Lake], and so impressed by her as an operator and what she’s done scaling Stitch Fix while staying so close to the customer.”
Lake will be the first independent director for the brand, as the other members of the board include Weiss herself, the brand’s president Henry Davis, and three venture capitalist investors.
Lake’s own brand, Stitch Fix, was founded seven years ago. The company has only recently gone public back in November, after raising $1 billion in revenue. The company reportedly began with just $42 million in venture capital.
Glossier was founded as an extension of Into the Gloss, a blog which has been run by Weiss since 2010. The brand has gained $86 million in venture capital and is known for its interpersonal relationships with customers as well as what many cite as a revolutionary marketing campaign.
Lake has credited Glossier, saying that she feels the brand has maintained an “authentic” relationship with customers, stating that the brand has managed to contain the authenticity as they grow “in a very digital-first, totally new way.”
All in all, it does seem like the two were made for each other.
