In September 2018, Sania Maskatiya officially became the first designer of Pakistani origin to showcase her work at the New York Fashion Week. In 2019 she returned to the prestigious New York Fashion Week for the second time for the Fall/Winter ’19 Showcase with the approval of CAAFD (Council Of Aspiring American Fashion Designers). This time her collection was of luxe evening wear.
Her entire collection played around two colors – black and white, the colors of winters.The showcasing was all about luxe fabrics in metallic shades and featured intricate embellishments and fusion silhouettes. The pieces were inspired by the Victorian era but there was a sense of modernity to them. It can be said she brought the Victorian era up to to date with the 21st Century. This compiled with the attention to detail made the collection flawless. There was a subtle hint of her Eastern home with the designing and fabric she used which made the collection all the more refreshing.
