On September 10th, finishing off this edition of the CAAFD and iFashion Network sponsored showcase at the famous mecca of Pier59 in New York City, New York-based designer Samantha Leibowitz brown some hometown flair. Being the concluding designer in this CAAFD-sponsored emerging designers showcase, Samantha Leibowitz brought extremely striking yet practical designs that amazed all in attendance.
The showcase was produced by noted producer and fashion guru, Resk ‘Que, and had his fingerprints all over the show, featuring excellent lighting and infectious beats and music.
This being Samantha Leibowitz’ second showing at consecutive Fashion Weeks, she definitely had something to prove, and Samantha used every technique and skill at her disposal in this masterfully executed collection. Black and whites reigned supreme in these designs, with the occasional blue adding some beautiful contrast.
Leibowitz’ design choices may seem tame compared to some other designers, but she executes on the simplicity expertly. Every piece is something a woman can wear proudly, and be excited to be seen wearing. These pieces were stylish, yet down to Earth, a very tough line to toe that Leibowitz handled extremely well.
At the conclusion of the showcase, the designer herself, Samantha Leibowitz, walked down the runway with a few select models and looked great doing so! She wore a top and bottom that meshed very well with the rest of the designs, and absolutely looked like something you would actually wear and not leave sitting in a closet. It says a lot for a designer to wear something so similar to her collection, and it looked stunning on both her and the models. Please check the rest of our coverage of this showcase, there are many more emerging designers who were highlighted at CAAFD’s emerging designers showcase.
With another emerging designers showcase completed, CAAFD is already at work on its next in the long running series, and we are excited to see where that goes!
