Maison Margiela presented his collection for fall and winter 2017 at Paris Fashion Week. A full range of the color scale hit the runway in a new way. Margiela’s collection featured everyday outfits with changes to their structures. The use of structural changes to the outfits gave new life to the collection. A must have piece from this collection would be the red and black jacket and skirt set. The black on the jacket is met with vibrant red prints on the front and sleeves of the jacket. The black on the skirt is met with what appears to be flames emerging from the hem of the skirt. Margiela’s use of patterns enhances the recreation of the article of clothing and shows an immense amount of innovation.
With Margiela’s extensive experience as a fashion designer, Margiela definitely has the expertise needed to alter the architectural structure of a piece of clothing and making it into something new. Margiela’s layering of structurally altered clothing adds depth to the ensemble.
Margiela’s love of for innovating designs shines through with some of his more captivating designs that go beyond the realm of structural changes. Margiela uses the full length of the model enhance his designs. He uses headpieces, feathers, hats, and other accessories to emphasize the aesthetic of the ensemble.
