Big news, Nordstrom pulled the Ivanka Trump from their stores and online. It seems that the brand hasn’t been doing well at the department store. Nordstrom released a statement about the change. “We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance. We’ve got thousands of brands — more than 2,000 offered on the site alone. Reviewing their merit and making edits is part of the regular rhythm of our business. Each year we cut about 10 percent and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.”
Accordingly, for the spring season, the store will not be stocking the brand. As of Thursday, the Nordstrom site only carried four Ivanka Trump items. The three pairs of shoes and dress were all marked down 40 percent. Originally, Nordstrom primarily sold Ivanka Trump shoes, under the Marc Fischer footwear license.
The Role of #GrabYourWallet
Furthermore, this was all amidst the #GrabYourWallet movement, which encouraged people to boycott brands that are tied to the Trump family. Earlier in November, Nordstrom tweeted a disclaimer about their initial decision to sell the brand. “We hope that offering a vendor’s products isn’t misunderstood as us taking a political position. We’re not.”
