When you think of Isabel Marant and beauty, odds are the last thing on your mind would be makeup. At the fashion designer’s runway shows her models often look bare-faced.
Marant often prefers the classic French Girl approach to beauty. With that said, it is a shock to know L’Oréal Paris has collaborated with Isabel Marant on a makeup collection that is set to launch in her Paris Fashion Week show in September.
“I’ve always interpreted fashion’s ready-to-wear literally, and I couldn’t be more thrilled at this chance to do that in makeup with an on-the-go collection with L’Oréal Paris,” the designer says in a press release. “It has been a dream to get right inside makeup innovation and to offer this collection of day-into-night, natural-to-smoking makeup essentials I have always wanted.”
Marant — whose fashion brand has been credited with inventing the bohemian Parisienne hipster-meets-tomboy look favored by celebrities such as Beyoncé, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kendall and Kylie Jenner — told WWD, in a 2018 report, her idea was in part to conceive non-makeup makeup products. “But also the idea was rather to have a few necessary products that one always has in her bag and can be used in a very nomadic way,” she said.
“This is a collaboration that’s really of the moment: synonymous with Parisian elegance, Isabel Marant is one of the great self-made designers today. Absolutely true to herself and her independence, she’s the perfect partner for the brand, in our drive to make every woman around the world feel worth it,” Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou, L’Oréal Paris Global Brand President, says in the release.
The L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant product line includes five different products for lips, eyes and cheeks, allowing you to create day and night looks.
It will prelaunch online beginning Sept. 19. Then the worldwide launch — at L’Oréal Paris sales points off- and online, and in Isabel Marant stores — is set for Sept. 27, the day of the designer’s fashion show during women’s ready-to-wear season in Paris, according to a 2018 Women’s Wear Daily report.
