Social media has created a new generation of young entrepreneurs. Generation Z, consisting of those born after 1996, are using social media to expand their businesses and secure their financial future. Audacious and tech-savvy, Generation Z is turning social media into a goldmine.
Luka Sabbat, a 20-year-old actor and entrepreneur, used social media to build a network that eventually led to incredible opportunities. He currently has over a million followers on Instagram, thanks to his unique and effortless sense of style. Since growing his social media following and showcasing his talent and personality, Sabbat has worked with famous fashion designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Hugo Boss, and even modeled for Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 1 presentation in 2015. Sabbat also stars in ABC’s “Grown-ish.”
Emerging entrepreneurs like Sabbat are making hundreds of thousands of dollars because of social media. They are creating their own success and acting as their own managers, turning their own personal interests and experiences into careers. When social media users see something they like in a post, they share it. The original poster then gets attention and followers from people all around the world, which leads to exposure and business.
Social media influencers play a huge role in online brand success. When influencers with large followings post about small brands, the small brands can grow exponentially overnight. Clothing brands especially see great success when an influencer posts a picture wearing an item or outfit from the brand.
As of now, Generation Z is contributing $143 billion in consumer spending and is on track to make up 40 percent of all shoppers by 2020. Generation Z plays a very important role in today’s market, and soon enough, they’ll be changing the market completely.
