As we near Fall 2017, the MTV VMA’s gave us a great heads-up on fashion for the end of the year. The VMA’s has always been a fashion spectacle for me, I never really paid attention to anything else, other than the drama that usually happens. Surprisingly, we saw a lot of white, sheen and textures. Nothing says fall like a mix of new fabrics and intricate texture, not to mention the number one trend highlight of the year: embroidery.
We did see plenty of black lace and sequins too, with slogans of “truth hurts” worn by singer Lizzo. We love that sheerness was the focus of fashion for this year’s VMA’s, paired with glitz and effortless glam. If you’re making a shopping list, add crystal studded jackets to the list like Jared Leto’s after party look, and asymmetrical dresses, because dresses and flattering skirts cut diagonally is a total win this year.
We saw a lot of beauty trends too, with healthy, dewy skin and heavy definition in kohl for the eyes, and barely-there lip gloss. Of course, Katy Perry was an exception, with her signature bold eyeshadow and liner.
Here’s a look at what we loved at the VMA’s and the after party styles.
