New York Fashion Week time is almost upon us once again! The Spring/Summer 2019 season kicks off September 6th, 2018 and CAAFD (The Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers) has announced that Hakuyo Miya will be a featured designer! This marks the second time Hakuyo Miya will be presenting with CAAFD.
Hakuyo Miya, a Japanese designer for the French brand Mouton Blanc, is known for utilizing both “real world” and “fantasy style” elements in his pieces.
This combination of elements becomes quite fitting when one takes into consideration both the etymology of Mouton Blanc and Miya’s personal fashion history. Mouton Blanc shares its name with a well-known hotel on the medieval island-city of le Mont Saint-Michel in France. Le Mont Saint-Michel, which looks straight out of “Game of Thrones,” may have inspired the fantastical elements of Miya’s designs. However, Miya still gives his pieces a modern twist; he studied his craft at the Atelier Chardon Savard in Paris, after all, which is a city that has been long hailed as the birthplace of the avant-garde.
Miya will be showcasing his take on modern fantasy at with his Spring/Summer 2019 collection during the upcoming New York Fashion Week.
Miya stated: “I am so pleased to have been selected to work with the CAAFD for fashion week again, and look forward to showcasing my collection.”
