Hello beauty fans! Christmas Day is usually so jam-packed for most people and as such we don’t have a lot of time to do a full face beatdown, but still want to look great at our family gatherings. So how can you still look put together with your makeup on point without spending a ton of time on it? Grab your favorite drink, settle in, and keep on reading to find out!
I am all about the quick 20-minute makeup this time of year! Today I am going to tell you how you can achieve a makeup look that makes you look put together using minimal products. I actually drove cross country (took about 31.65 hours total) and then went out to eat with family after I got in. I got a lot of compliments on my makeup, which was just basic “natural looking” makeup. Ie: no contouring, minimal blush and highlight, etc. Basic is still beautiful everyone! Now this takes me 20 minutes, but I have been doing makeup professionally for years, so if it takes you a bit longer that’s completely normal!
Today’s tutorial is going to be a little bit different instead of telling you how to apply everything step by step on one focus feature ie; the eyes, I am instead going to give you a product breakdown so you know everything I used and what color combos. To see a step by step guide on how to apply eyeshadow and what brushes to use please refer back to the beauty articles linked at the end of this article!
How to Get the Look
Step 1 Eyes
This look is all about simplicity. I actually only used a total of 3 crease colors and one lid color. I know, I know, I usually use like 6 or more! I applied Soft Brown as my transition color, then mixed Saddle and Brown Script together and put them into the crease, I went for a blown out look. I then added Slow Fast Slow, a really pretty rosy brown with copper and pink sparkles to the lid. I then added Saddle and Brown Script on the lower lash line smoked out of course, and BAM that’s it for the eyes!
I applied a coat of Zoom Fast Black mascara to my top and bottom lashes. No falsies for this look!
Step 2 Foundation
I wanted very minimal coverage (I hardly ever wear full coverage foundation) so I used Face and Body which is a light coverage foundation that gives you a nice dewy finish. You all know with this dry weather the more moisture you can get the better!
Step 3 Apply Concealer
I have pretty dry skin, so I like to use concealers that are hydrating. My go to concealer is MAC Mineralize in the shade NW20.
Step 4 Apply Setting Powders
I set my under eye area with the Mineralize Skin Finish in Light Plus then set my whole face with Mineralize Skin Finish in the shade Medium. I like the Mineralize powders because they have light reflective properties and are less drying than a typical matte powder like Studio Fix.
Step 5 Apply Bronzer
Do not contour with this look at all, it’s way too harsh for the natural vibe we are going for. I lightly bronzed my face to give it a little warmth using the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer and that was it!
Step 6 Apply Blush
I used the blush in the shade Cantaloupe and blended it out really well to give my cheeks just a soft touch of color.
Step 7 Apply Highlighter
For this look, I used Beaming Blush a highlighter from the Extra Dimension line from MAC.
Step 8 Apply Lip Products
I used Japanese Maple and mixed it with a touch of Soar Lip liner. Basically, any light color/nude will work for this look! Another option is to go with a light pink or even a red lipstick to up the glam factor!
Step 9 Set Face
I never actually set my face since I am dry like the Sahara! Instead, I use Fix Plus, it’s more of a binding rather than setting spray. It basically makes all your powders bind together making your makeup look more like skin rather than that powdery finish and gives you some extra hydration. If you want a setting spray that will help to keep your makeup in place all day/night I like the Urban Decay Chill Makeup setting spray.
Next week we are going to have a best of beauty for 2016 shebang, as well as a couple of fun NYE looks that you can achieve at home!
