The Trumps are no strangers to having the most luxury. With trump being one of the richest men in America, you would think that his family would always have the most expensive items on the market. So when it came to Ivanka trump starting her jewelry brand, it had to be top quality and top price. She started her jewelry line over a decade ago starting with just the basic jewelry pieces. Her line featured different pieces that cost upwards of $25,000. Since she was so use to the most expensive items, she thought other people would be able to afford such high priced pieces. She then opened a small boutique in 2007 as a place to showcase her fine jewelry to the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The line first started out with only jewelry but after a few years, Ivanka started added more to her collection. She branched out adding shoes and handbags to her line. Then to most people surprise, she even added some affordable priced jewelry that was not upwards in the thousands of dollars (always thinking of the little people too). After her line began to get bigger and expanding, she started showcasing it in department stores such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Macy’s. Then sadly her dreams soon came crashing now. Thanks to her father in this election, companies selling her line have had to deal with President Trump critics calling for boycotts against retailers seller Trump-branded products. There are crazy die hard anti-trump people and will go to any length to try to do what they can to hurt him or his family.
Since this whole thing started and people started protesting these places, many stores have dropped Ivanka’s brand saying that sales since the election have heavily declines. This could be true or it could be that the stores just did not feel like dealing with all the drama behind the whole thing. They did not want to have people stop shopping at their retail stores just so they could sell one brand.
Luckily, the Trumps never let anything stand in their way of running a successful business. And Ivanka is not letting the haters stop her; she plans to continue expanding her brand even farther. Her main vision fir the line has changed though, and now she wants to focus on the less expensive more affordable end of the jewelry. This means it is time to say goodbye to that $25,000 dollar necklace. Her goal is to make her brand a lot more appealing to the middle class of America and not only focus on the higher end of society. Maybe this is her way of trying to show she “cares” about more people and not only is focusing on a certain class of society? Well whatever her main reason is for changing her high end line to a more affordable one, hopefully it all works out for her in the end. Now instead of seeing her jewelry in higher end department stores, she has decided to have it in places like T.J. Maxx and Zappos.
