While creating the spring/ summer 2010 collection, designer Miguel Antoinne allowed himself to dream. Inspired by the picturesque beauty and calm of thunder and lightning, the designer pulled from abstract ideas and visuals to create his new collection.

Thunder and lightning acted as an allegory throughout the development process influencing the design aesthetic. Thunder and lightning is often described as majestic and generally evokes stillness, but it can also be stimulating, erogenous and even uncertain at times. This epitomizes the way in which Miguel pictures style and is influenced by fashion himself.

For spring you can expect to find many elements of surprise in the collection. Blazers with inset lapels, cropped trousers designed to be adjusted to your desired length (shorter or longer) without losing the integrity of the style. Pebble washed cotton tanks with an asymmetrical design, and many new introductory design elements in shorts, and woven shirts.

Sultry beauty in stillness highly influenced the look of the miguel Antoinne spring/summer 2010 collection. Bold coolness and sophisticated design, much like the natural elements of thunder and lightning, plays an important role this season. Tailoring is smart, yet there is also a balance between sharp clean lines and
draping. Bold prints were infused into the collection and added a layer of texture and volume which was directly inspired by the contrasting light and dark tones found in thunder and lightning. The fabrics selected for this collection are very innovative and have duel functionality. Materials such as coated linen are cool enough to breeze through the summer heat, yet functional enough to withstand being caught in a windy storm.

The color palette represents the quiet before the storm. Shades such as gradient hues of blues, grays, and sharp blacks contrasted with bright whites and naturals generally casts a beautiful shadow over us, just like a storm and very much like art itself.
