rom chemical engineering to carefully constructed garments, first-time designer Ghassan Yazbeck showcased his signature Fall/Winter 2012 collection during NYFW. In the midst of another season of designer mayhem, the show took place in Atrium hall during iFashion Week on February 14th sponsored by iFashion Network. The event was held featuring emerging designers from across the globe, in which Yazbeck was the spotlight.
The show kicked off vigorously with a series of sharply cut jackets topped with stretched-out necks and unusual cut offs. The collection integrated reds, purples, whites, blacks with teal and gold accents. Combining materials like silk, wool crepe, and leather, it was a noticeably futuristic array of a new fashion disposition.

The entire collection was collar-sensitive, filled with Yazbeck's stiff popped collar and one unparalleled rounded star shaped collar. They brought life to the clothing through an unveiling polished, yet playful look.
The tuxedo paneled skirt in wool and satin paired with the black bustier with gold metal closures in gazar, and the sheer black and white stripped jacket, first seen in plastic and then in silk double organza, created a ripple effect of standing audience as they walked down the runway.

The crowd was taken by surprise when the collection was concluded with a delicate white wedding gown. As Yazbeck walked down the runway with the model displaying the gown, the appreciation and pride in his face was evident. In response to the admiration of his entire collection he simply stated “One cannot stop their eyes from seeing beauty, for beauty commends the eye.”

Obtaining degrees within the pharmaceutical and medical fields and even owning his own pharmacy at one point, he left behind his former and comfortable life to get a degree in fashion design from Parsons and is now on his way to fulfilling his lifelong dream of creating a lifestyle brand.
