eon accents and accessories line the shelves of NYC’s hippest and hautiest retailers. From Bloomingdales to TopShop, blinding florescent trinkets and tops say fresh fashion for Spring 2012. First accompanied by spandex biker shorts and Reebok high top sneakers at step-aerobic classes across America, neon is yet another 1980’s fashion statement revisited.

New York based designer Mara Hoffman featured Egyptian-inspired prints into an otherwise floral spring, showing well edited pops of lime green and electric blue. While Project Runway Season 5 winner, Leanne Marshall, showed highlighter yellow dresses and separates in hemp silk and organic cotton. From the runway to the real  way (streets) neon statement pieces add personality to any look. A multi-striped sweater, collared shirt, tote bag, or nail color are just a few ways to take part in the trend without fully committing. Lovers of clean lines are encouraged to live in shrunken cashmere cardigans in tangerine and sea foam green. Risk takers, get with mini cross-body bags in lime or hot pink.
