“It’s f-ing fashion week, we are playing for f-ing blood, mother f-ing keeps,” spewed Kelly Cutrone at the beginning of Kell on Earth.  During the premiere, absolute mayhem descended upon her fashion pr firm of People’s Revolution.  Handling 10 shows during the Spring 2010 New York fashion week, Kelly and her team were beyond stressed.

Their first show was for David Delfin, an emerging Spanish designer. He is trying to gain more exposure in the United States. People’s Revolution had to reach out to all the press, handle the RSVPs, make the seating chart, and produce the runway show.    Backstage at the show, Kelly and her assistant, Andrew Mukamal, had to ensure the models were dressed on time and that everything ran smoothly.  On a side note, Andrew (a Goth diva) was adorned in a black sequined Delfin gown with a Blackwatch plaid shirt. Anyway, hell almost broke loose when a monitor failed to deliver the live feed of the fashion show.  With her take charge attitude, Cutrone fixed the issue instantaneously.  Delfin delivered a minimalist, modern collection with clean lines and an androgynous tone

For the Chado Ralph Rucci the firm had to track the RSVPs and make the seating chart for the runway show.  It may sound simple, but there is a complex science behind the seating arrangements.  Two thousand invitations were sent out, and all the RSVPs needed to be tracked down via phone and e-mail.  Once they were entered into the database, then the seating chart could be created.  It is essential that all the elite editors, celebrities, and buyers are in the first three rows.  Competing editors, like from Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, cannot be seated in the same vicinity. The pressure was definitely on People’s Revolution to avoid any further seating catastrophes.

Managing this monumental task was junior executive, Stefanie Skinner. The poor dear was on the verge of tears at every traumatic turn.  People who were not invited to the show were accidentally added to the “yes” column.  Just because someone calls to RSVP does not mean their name is on the all important list.  With only an hour to spare until the start of the show, the list with all the seating information refuses to print properly.  The client needs the list; Kelly Cutrone is yelling expletives at everyone. Utter chaos!!!
