A group of tricky hackers are scamming Netflix users with an email asking for their billing information. Upon receiving the email, users are directed to a supposed Netflix page that asks to update their personal information.
SCAM ALERT! I just got this e-mail. I do NOT even have NETFLIX!! I'm posting this to warm people about a SCAM. Please beware. The actual NETFLIX company needs to know this is going on. This email didnt give my name or supposed NETFLIX account number but it wants me to put in my name, address and card info. NO WAY! I reported them and blocked anymore email from them. #netflixscam #scam #scammersneedtogetalife
Netflix has never asked their users to update their information via an email, only through their website or app.
According to “Teen Vogue,” the streaming site said in a statement:
“We take the security of our members’ accounts seriously and Netflix employs numerous proactive measures to detect fraudulent activity to keep the Netflix service and our members’ accounts secure. Unfortunately, phishing scams are common on the internet and target popular brands such as Netflix and other companies with large customer bases to lure users into giving out personal information. Members who want to learn more about how to keep their personal information safe against phishing scams and other malicious activity can go to netflix.com/security or contact Customer Service directly.”
