The sports and streetwear label Adidas has been on the rise for quite some time now. Located on 5th Avenue and 46th Street, this new superstore is nearly 45,000 square feet and four floors. Now, New York holds the title of the largest Adidas store in the world. The shop is intended to reflect the design of a sports stadium, calling it a “stadium retail concept.” In fact, the entrance to the store is inspired by the tunnel athletes go through in order to get to the field. Additionally, between the first floor and second floor, shoppers can watch live games or simply overlook 5th Avenue on the bleachers.
This store will do wonders for the business of the company – streetwear and athlesiure are now, more than ever, growing in the New York realm. Claire Midwood, Senior VP of Concepts to Consumers, told The Street: “We wanted to focus on elevating the brand in key cities, and New York City is a great place to start because it’s a sport and fashion intersection.” But, Adidas isn’t the only one thinking this way. Rival Nike also recently opened a large store in SoHo, boasting a 55,000 square foot floor plan and five floors. Similarly, the North Face recently opened up a 5th Avenue store, two floors with 20,000 square feet of retail space. Under Armour is opening a 5th Avenue location, but much larger. The store opening late 2018, early 2019 is nearly 53,000 square feet.
The store will stock it all, from classic Stan Smith’s to new products like the Ultra-Boost. From collabs with Reigning Champ to collabs with Stella McCartney. The store will also be selling food and has a juice bar. Additionally, it features a personal fitness consultation area and a section dedicated to customizable products. Furthermore, the store boasts product testing areas, called “The Turf” and “The Track.”
The store opened December 1st, and lines were long as fans waited to get their hands on Adidas products.
